Number of Events:
- A student may register for any five performance events. Performance events consist of all Platform and Music events excluding Band and Choir.
- A student may register for any number of non-performance events as long as the combined total of performance and non-performance events does not exceed twelve events.
- A student may not participate in two identical events (i.e., two duets).
- Each church/school may have a maximum of four entries in any event with the exception of the Academic Bowl (one team of four per school) and Piano Solo categories (six entries per school). No exceptions will be made.
Christian Living events do not count towards a student’s maximum twelve events. Students may enter one or all of these events. (There is no limit to the number of students from a school that can participate in each of these events.) A student must be registered for and must place in a Christian Living event in order to be eligible for CAP.
Registration & Event Information - Information detailing the registration process for all events will be sent to schools who are planning to attend the PILOTS Convention by the PILOTS office. We are continuing to update this process and appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience as we do so.
Schools are encouraged to hold registration sign-ups for each of the event categories offered and to encourage their young people to enter events that they both enjoy and are interested in and that they will be challenged by. We also find that both parental and sponsor involvement can make a positive difference in how young people prepare for and perform in their events. We strongly encourage schools to actively communicate information to parents regarding both the events their children are signed up for as well as the requirements and judging criteria listed for each one. Please contact the PILOTS office if you are in need of resources to assist in student registration or parental/sponsor involvement.
Fees - Each church/school must pay the registration fee for the organization. All home school students must register for PILOTS through their Christian school or their local, independent Baptist church for fee purposes. The church/school registration fee is the same, regardless of the number of students. Please check with the PILOTS office for a list of updated fees each year.
Before Registration Day - Each school must submit the following early entries digitally at least fourteen days prior to the beginning date of PILOTS digitally to the PILOTS program. Further instructions are listed under each event’s category and detailed information will be provided to schools participating in these categories. Judges will be selected and contacted by the PILOTS office, and entries are no longer required to be emailed.
Early Entry
Short Story, Essay, Poetry Writing; Radio Program; Multimedia Presentation
All Music Event Submissions - Copies of music as performed and a listed breakdown of all music pieces to be performed by entry are required to be digitally submitted to the PILOTS office by January 31 to be pre-approved for all music entries including vocal, instrumental, ensemble, choir, and band entries. Schools will be contacted directly regarding any issues with music that is submitted. Please be sure to submit entries promptly to avoid delays in the approval process and keep PILOTS guidelines in mind when selecting pieces as it can be difficult for students to change pieces without adequate time to prepare for a performance. Please contact the PILOTS office with any questions before the deadline if needed. Detailed entry submission information will be communicated further via email. Files will be submitted directly through the PILOTS program, rather than being emailed to the PILOTS office.
Judging
- Decisions made by the judges are final.
- Please do not ask the PILOTS judges to make suggestions and comments for any contestant's improvement other than those submitted on the judge’s forms.
- Late entries to PILOTS may be judged but may not place.
Refund Policy – Due to convention costs, PILOTS Convention regrets that it is unable to refund any fees within two weeks of the start of the convention.
